If you thought 2009 was a big year for music, just wait until you see what 2010 has in store. While the past 12 months were all about Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Susan Boyle and Adam Lambert, 2010 is shaping up to be the year of the comeback, the sequel and the new look, with anticipated discs on tap from a reunited Blink-182, Katy Perry, Christina Aguilera, Diddy, Kanye West, Vampire Weekend, Usher, MGMT, and the soundtrack to the third "Twilight" film, "Eclipse."

Perry has been "spilling out material" for the follow-up to her breakthrough, One of the Boys, citing such über-pop acts as Ace of Base and the Cardigans as inspiration. She's worked with Weezer's Rivers Cuomo and Rihanna collaborator Tricky Stewart so far, but hasn't really nailed down a release date.

While we know Britney Spears has also been in the studio, working on the sequel to Circus, its unknown if the back-on-track pop diva will finish up the disc in time for a 2010 release. Former rival Christina Aguilera, though, has reportedly started her electro-influenced follow-up to 2006's Back to Basics with an eclectic group of women, including M.I.A., Sia, Santigold and Ladytron, but has seemingly put it on hold until she finishes filming her bit for the movie "Burlesque."

Also potentially on tap for 2010: a new album from Madonna, troubled British soul singer Amy Winehouse's long-awaited follow-up to her Grammy-winning Back to Black breakthrough, and the second album from She & Him, featuring actress Zooey Deschanel and singer/songwriter M. Ward.

2009? Done. The new year is here, and with it comes a clean slate and a host of new movies, series and games to get excited about - from killer fish in three dimensions to warmongering angels to the long-awaited return of two horror icons to the screen (and your nightmares). In chronological order, behold our top 10 reasons why 2010 could be a great year for horror fans.


The Return of Vicious Vampire Films (January 8 & beyond)
The tail end of the ‘00s may have belonged to sparkly vampires, but in 2010, their vicious brethren are taking the genre back to its bloody roots. First up is Daybreakers. Ethan Hawke plays a vamp scientist in a world dominated by bloodthirsty vampires who feed on humanity. Later this year, Twilight’s Cam Gigandet and True Blood’s Stephen Moyer team up with Paul Bettany’s warrior monk in the summer flick Priest, loosely based on the Korean comic about a shotgun-toting, vampire-hunting clergyman. And keep an eye out for those LA bloodsucker types in 30 Days of Night: Dark Days, which picks up as Stella (Kiele Sanchez) heads to California to exact revenge for her husband’s death.

There's one man I never thought would be hooked on The X Factor - JAY-Z.

Mr Zed has become completely obsessed with the show - just like 20million of us who tuned in over here. And the New York rapper thinks so highly of the ITV1 smash he's put the shout out to SIMON COWELL, offering his expertise. Plus, the Jiggaman is now so fond of Geordie judge CHERYL COLE he wants to manage her with wife BEYONCE and steer her on to break America.

Arsenal fan Jay said: "Simon, if you need any help for the next series, let me know man and I'm your judge. There is a lot of untapped hip hop talent in the UK and if they want my help finding some for the final 12 I am sure I could assist. Just try and make it the same weekend Arsenal are playing in London, that would really help me out man."

How or why Jay-Z would be keen on the UK version of The X Factor - or even know about it - was my first thought. But it all makes sense. Jay is so on top of music of course he knows about The X Factor and Simon's plans to launch it in the USA. His closest mates include Brits CHRIS MARTIN, an X Factor fanatic, and MR HUDSON who both keep him posted.

But there's even more to it.

X Factor winner ALEXANDRA BURKE duetted with Beyonce in the final. When Alex came to record her debut album Overcome she did sessions in Jay's studio in New York and got to meet him. Cheryl, of course, was Alex's mentor and now a pal.

Jay added: "I keep a close eye on the music industry throughout the world and I know how hot Cheryl is in the UK. The US market is the toughest one to break into, but once you do it is by far the most lucrative. I think Cheryl has that talent to do it. There is nobody in the US like her right now, and I would be very interested in helping her break the US market this year. Bey has seen her perform and she told me how impressed she was. I checked her out and I was impressed as well."

With Jay-Z and Beyonce on board, Cheryl would be unstoppable.

Saoirse Ronan is in negotiations to reteam with her "Atonement" director Joe Wright to star as the title character in "Hanna," Focus' tale of a teenage assassin.

"Hanna" is described as having shades of "La Femme Nikita" and the "Bourne" movies.

The story follows a 14-year-old Eastern European girl (Ronan) who has been raised by her father to be a cold-blooded killing machine. She connects with a French family, forms a friendship with their daughter and goes through the pangs of adolescence. When the girl is dragged back to her father's world and discovers that she was bred as a killing machine in a CIA prison camp, she must fight her way to a free life.

Dieticians Tell Megan Fox to STFU



Health experts have warned dieters against taking advice from actress Megan Fox.

The Transformers star has been blasted for hailing the benefits of swigging vinegar. She recently said, "It just cleanses out your system entirely. It will get rid of ... for women who retain water weight from your menstrual cycle and all that ... it gets rid of it really fast. I'm not one for dieting or exercising, because I'm lazy and I have a really big sweet tooth, so I have to do cleanses every once in a while 'cause of the amount of sugar I take in."

However, experts in the field have dismissed Megan's claims, insisting there is not a single form of vinegar in existence that will help dieters lose weight. Dietician Lucy Jones said, "As attractive as it sounds, there is no magic pill, lotion or potion for a quick fix to weight loss. The body, including the liver, is a well-oiled detoxing machine, which will not be improved by vinegar, whether it be organic, apple cider, unfiltered, or your bog-standard malt vinegar."

Warner Bros. has acquired remake rights to the Chan-Wook Park-directed Korean film “Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance,” and has set Brian Tucker (“Broken City”) to write the script.

Pic will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian at di Bonaventura Pictures, CJ Entertainment’s Miky Lee and Ted Kim, and Room 101’s Steven Schneider (“Paranormal Activity”).

The film is one leg of Park’s famed Vengeance trilogy. Another pic in that series, “Oldboy,” is being remade by Mandate and Vertigo.

When the women two different men love most get murdered, the men set out on violent quests to punish those responsible. Trouble is, they themselves are the ones responsible and only one of them will have vengeance.

Mabrouk El Mechri will be exec producer.

CJ Entertainment made Park’s most recent thriller, “Thirst,” and Joon-ho Bong’s “Mother.” The company is currently working on several remakes and “Korean Wedding,” a romantic comedy at Lionsgate.

STEPHEN BALDWIN takes his faith so seriously, he'd watch his own daughter die in the name of religion.

The actor reinvented himself as a born-again Christian following the 9/11 terrorist attacks on America, and his wife Kennya and their kids Alaia and Hailey are equally as devoted.

During a candid chat on U.K. reality show Celebrity Big Brother, Baldwin revealed the lengths he would go to to stay true to his belief in God.

He explained, "I'm gonna sound fanatical right now but what my faith requires is if I were sitting here, and my wife and two kids were sitting there, and we were on a public bus and somebody came in with a machine gun and pointed it at my daughter and said to my daughter, 'Say Jesus doesn't exist' - if she turned to me and said,

'What do I do?', I'd say, 'What have I taught you to do?'

"She'd say, 'Jesus absolutely exists', and I'd see her in heaven."

'Precious' Star Gabourey Sidibe and Dakota Fanning Grace V Magazine's 'Size Issue' Covers

We've already brought you a few glimpses from inside V magazine's provocative "Size Issue," featuring a bevy of plus-size models, and now we have the view from the outside.

To celebrate women of all shapes, V chose size zero actress Dakota Fanning, 15, and Gabourey Sidibe, the 26-year-old critically acclaimed plus-size star of "Precious," to grace its two contrasting covers which hit newsstands Jan. 14.

Both young ladies were shot in New York City by husband-and-wife photo team Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin, with Fanning wearing a corset over a sweatshirt, both by Alexander Wang, and Sidibe showing a bare décolletage.

Michael Jackson never got the chance to make his stage comeback, but his untimely death made him more popular than ever.

The King of Pop reclaimed his throne, ranking as the top-selling artist of 2009 with 8.2 million albums sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. That's nearly double No. 2 finisher, Taylor Swift, who rang up 4.6 million in sales.

Rounding out the top five were the Beatles (3.2 million), Susan Boyle (3.1 million) and Lady Gaga (2.8 million).
